Final countdown: My defenses, how to improve?

Hello everyone!

I am in abit of a hazzle right now, i am about to be raided by an unknown enemy and unknown size and humour stats to me. They just recently put up a trial by fire and will be able to raid me within 18 hours. So within 14 hours i will be able to take down their trial by fire, which i will of course try to ... we will see how it goes.

But incase i don't manage i was wondering if anyone have some pointers to my defenses i can improve? Posting a screenshot of my current defenses.
I also stockpiled with flint to repair walls, granite and stone to build new ones and also tons of food and coal for my braziers.

Not really feeling i want to abandon my hermitage just yet, and i am not that eager to get killed at this stage. But it's part of the game i suppose =)
The blue circles are my braziers.

Which server are you on?

You need more brazier coverage, 2 braziers then a 1 tile gap followed by another 2 braziers is good. Another alternative is to make a brazier every 2 tiles so,
b s b s b s

b= brazier
s= open space

Making a full line of braziers is not encouraged because it means that for them to get in, one of your braziers will have to be completely destroyed which is a loss to you.

Walls of the same type will splash damage onto eachother and the max tiles I've seen so far for splash is 5. Stronger walls will splash to weaker ones so it's advised to put your strongest wall on the inside and work your way outward.
I know that you don't have time right now, but treewall your base also. Trees are a total pain in the ***** to chop down, specially under brazier fire.

Your best bet atm is to increase your brazier coverage if possible and be on to repair your walls as they are being broken. If you are a hermit (which I assume you are) you will be able to bash the trial with 200 phl in about 7-9 minutes. Trials can be repaired with wooden blocks also (will be fixed eventually according to Jorb) but making it so that there are no easily accessible trees around the trial will help your case and slow them down. Chances are they are just looking for an easy raid so if you make it a real pain in the ass by repairing the walls every time they may just give up on you.

Also, don't count on being able to break the trial now that you've posted this because they now know to be there the second that it is ready to be broken.

PM him with the answer if you don't want to say on forums. He might be asking because he wants to help.

Also, after looking closer, they are going to try to get in from the southern side of your base. It has the least brazier coverage. So be prepared on that side. If you want to be a real ***** to raid, start digging clay and fill your base with kilns.
Kilns have a very high amount of HP and will be a real pain for them to run around in your base if they're put all over.

Your best strategy once you know that they'll be able to get in and you can't fight back by yourself is to make it as big of a pain to maneuver while inside of your base as possible. This will mean that they can't destroy as much, or loot as efficiently. On top of this you might get lucky and they'll get stuck on an object's hitbox and be KO'd by your braziers.

Edit: Another thing, signposts. Signpost every single tile that doesn't have anything on it already. Bundles of sticks for fires work fine, just get a whole bag of sticks from a tree and build in 1 branch into each signpost. They'll have to destroy every post to move anywhere and it will increase their criminal status

With using kilns i suppose? Is it better to spread out all my loot of chests? I have divided my hermitage in sections as you can see, with walls between, then too just centralise it in the middle? Middle would be easier to defend, i am guessing. But if i divide it to different places they will take more time bashing different sections and i can manouver better when i fight and close em inside a section by locking the door. Any tips on that?

You'd be best to go to the best defended spot and move all of your things into that. BUT. The best course of action is to get another account and make alt characters named "Storage1" "Storage2" etc and fill them with all of your belongings. In the end the raiders will be going into the empty base. Another fun tactic to use after this is to lock all of your containers. They'll have to break them to find out what's inside and if they're all empty it's a massive waste of time for them.
