I think it was around 55 pages, yes. Everything trimmed was either off-topic or just not quite on topic enough to really warrant being a response there.

Having a clean announcement thread makes it a bit more readable both for users and the devs. Whether the devs post more is up to them, as long as they can access comments and questions that are pertinent. =)

If it makes you feel any better I read every single post at least once, some two or three times, to gauge whether it was worth sticking in there.
