Just wondering, when you saw a heavily kitted-out player head your way, was your first thought "he must be bringing crumpets for my tea party" ?

It feels a little pointless protesting the beating another player gave you in a game where it's pretty much encouraged. As a low-lvl player I understand it sucks when someone who's been playing for months swoops in and slaps you into next week; but hell that's why I stay away from the red squares on my map

Salem has permadeath AND is on the internet, expecting human decency from its userbase is like winning the lottery: it may happen but you're f**d if you rely on it happening

Im not stereotyping anyone, just making some comments based on political science. The majority of eurocentrical cultures didnt have any states of exception in the last 200 years ( or never had, in Canada/US case), southern/asian cultures lived with dictatorships in the last half century, so the image of a autoritharian government is really more lively for us. So things like the patriot act would NEVER happen here.

I wasn't implying Europe was a country I was tired and lazy. Two countries and an entire continent. Better? Fact is you keep arguing about politics and such, when the fact is Salem is about PVP, raiding, and crafting. You got raided and people got killed. That's the whole point of this game. Get over it.

Im not arguing about politics, im just tracing a comparison about player behaviour in game and in real life. Salem (or any massive game) it isnt just about the mechanics, is mainly about people, so it is a pertinent discussion. You say i should get over it, but we get anything we could salvage and moved to some other place, or you are seeing any pleads to hunt darworth and reclaim the town? So, matter settled, im still feeling entitled to discuss ANYTHING i think is related to the incident on this thread. If you have something to add to discussion feel free to join, if not, there plenty of other threads to read.

WOW, WTF

8 pages in a day, nice going guys. Well I've read the whole thing, so let's summarize and see where were at:

1. Vtomal's, Wullonde, or alagar and possibly an alt of their friends were killed, or punished by Darworth after they left scents on one of his secondary towns after "dropping a canoe" while trespassing, and also possibly stealing/tresspassing in surrounding newb camps. (I say we now call any major mistake made while thieving, "Dropping a canoe". It's to good a saying/excuse to let it die in this thread.)

2. Vtomal relates Darworth's actions on an MMORPG within Aristotle's theory of Perfectionism relating to the aspect of good and evil within the self without even knowing it. A general philosophical argument about how Aristotle's theory pertains to imagined selves and controlled actions within the standards of our collective society jumps 2400 years to Freudian theories of Self and Society. Vtomal then accuses Darworth of being evil in real life and believing in slavery, beating his children, and the attempted genocide of the Jamestown server.

3. Darworth goes back and completely "Raze's" Vtomal's town, down to the dirt.

4. The Chief gives Darworth his seal of approval.

5. Dallane and Trenial say something witty which only they really understand.

6. Some state/city/county is letting colesie counsel drug addicts and the mentally ill for some reason.

7. The argument devolves into "Is Darworth a representation of America?" Chaos ensues.

Does that about cover it?

No, I believe someone actually dropped it there. But what were they doing there, when they dropped the canoe on someone else's land?

Also use the spoiler function for screen shots.
