USA is an abbreviation, but it's also in the dictionary, so I'd call it a word, but it is debatable. And actually I guess it would be two words with las: la and las. La being the phonetic note spoken on a musical scale, and las being it's pluralized form. Also, this I did not know, it seems it's a white, soft, metallic element that tarnishes readily.

P.S. I was recently handed a leatherbound book entitled "THE BOOK OF HUSTLINGUISTICS" by an odd colonist smelling strongly of waffles in Boston. (He then said he was an "xpireicned hnh playr" and asked "can i join ur village", but that didnt seem relevant.)
