looks like everyone has split up fairly well. Can't wait to see how travelling works later on.

Heh, I made a character on Jamestown. After tutorial, guide sent me to some plains with invisible wall to the north, sea to the east and deep river to the south and west. Trapped there with no forest and no swimming skill I decided to return to Jamestown and walk to find more suitable place. After walking for 40-50 minutes I haven't managed to leave the plains that encircled town and reached some hilly place with maze of cliffs. Without enough food to raise humours and no basic inspirationals like chestnuts I couldn't improve my proficiencies / skills properly and decided to abandon that char and end my adventure on Jamestown

It took me like 2 hours of wandering around town, asking stuff and chatting, untill I hooked up with a guy who invited me to his place and we're now building an awsome village.

That's pretty cool, most people are too paranoid to just join up with a stranger, even at world start.
