Salem is not farmville.
I think an important part of helping new players get started, is to
1) tell them to read the forums, or at least HoB
2) teach them to be paranoid of red dots on the map
3) make sure they never fight on their main (even if it's a 3 day noob main)

Those 3 simple rules would have probably saved the lives of the 5 people that now quit

I can't stand players in this game who are like 'meh I don't read forums'
I'm sorry, then this is not the game for them.
Politics and drama are an important, if not the main part of Seatribe permadeath games.

I had kinda assumed, especially considering your forum post frequency, that you too would have had the sense of making that a priority, when tutoring new players.

I don't think past Sunday's events will kill Roanoke population, as you seem to think, Claeyt.
If anything, yesterdays drama saw 80+ crowds.
Did Claeyt shut up yet?

2 of the deaths were scammed by Colesie and the Chief. Don't worry, I've told our new players to simply look out for red dots, never wear a mask, never talk to anyone outside the village chat, or to just not play on Sunday. Unfortunately several people are now targeting their town because of my opposition to this.

There's a difference between reading the forum and reading this thread. All of our new village members have read the forum, but many hadn't seen this thread or examined the HoB section.

Of course Dallane will never play Salem again, so this will never happen.

You've got to wonder Alloin why you're doing this if the biggest fans of this noob hunt are Dallane, Colesie, and StaxJaxx, possibly the 3 people that YGM hated the most on the forums.

You have no idea how many times I wonder about this. Everybody complains about too few people on the server and how we've dropped 75% since closed-beta and then **** like this happens and more people leave and the game dies a little more....

True this isn't farmville and Perma-death is part of Salem, but for the last 3 months the Candy Gang has stood for order and against Criminals and killing for no reason. It's why we've had 2-3x the population of the other servers and why if the Dev's do go down to one server they may choose Roanoke over the other 2.

This will now change with this sport hunting of noobs on Sundays.

If the Candy Gang has now changed what they are, Please give us fair warning about where this is all going so that we can start warning all new players to avoid you at all costs. I've already started helping those that are now scared of you to hide better and to not talk to you guys about crime anymore.

everybody should just play on jamestown imo, i am the least douchy of the "bad guys" among the three servers and these days i enjoy watching newbs fight amongst themselves more than getting involved.

Just close the damn thread. Bottom line is : There are no good people in Salem, The Candy Gang is a bunch of criminals we should stay away off and the forum is a place for the "hight and mighty" to act stuck up and prove that they're jobless internet pricks who can't get over themselves. I already informed 90% of the server to ignore these criminals and that's what they agreed to do. That's it,nothing more to it.

I do not disagree with this, but I feel there should be more warning next time. Half the people that were killed did not even know why. I don't see how that is going to encourage anybody to read the forums or keep up with politics. Most are probably going to quit because their character was killed and they don't want to start all over. Maybe if they were told why they were being killed they might reconsider and actually learn something, maybe to keep up with the forums, or just common knowledge that sunday is YGM Day.

Exactly. I respect Darwoth far more then all of these guys. He himself tells us to stay away from him. I was told these guys were the crime fighters, the Heroes, i read the forum and it was all praise. Then they killed me for no reason, once i removed the mask. Even after i put it back on because of the valid reasons I mentioned few more times that Id like, he didn't warn me he had a problem with it.

But even so, I got challenged while i wasn't wearing my mask which just means he wanted me dead cause of his bloodthirst.

I don't care about my death and never will, but I am obliged to make sure people know they are criminals, not some hero order. Stay away from them, don't trust them, they are the scum of the server. Thank you.

I don't agree, Sparks has had 69 posts since yesterday and none before that.

Looks like it took getting killed for him to finally join the community.

Now that he's here, he might actually read up on the game he's been playing.
