That's up to the devs. We're just here to keep the forums running in some semblance of order. As Potjeh points out, system messages come across as popups. Anything in the chat window is simply from another player.

I'm sure the dev's stance is somewhere along the lines of "If you can't see the difference from a PM and a system message then sux2suk"
But the chat in Salem is pretty awkward and hard to manage as a new player so how are they to know that a system message in chat from an unspecified name coming from nowhere isn't the truth

It is also worth mentioning that when Claeyt made some trash post about a brotherhood that doesn't exist and posting BOUNTIES for players who were later killed (like Coles) that didn't exist his post was not hinnom'd. Jamestown may or may not be shut down. Claeyts brotherhood and bounty have been PROVEN to be false and ***** (his debt is still owed on the Coles kill) but that is not the point of HoB or the mods to determine the legitimacy of the claims, only that there are in fact claims and that players are in fact effected by the claims. If Jamestown server-wide messages and shut down is a trash post (because the shutdown itself isn't happening) then Claeyts brotherhood and bounties must also be hinnom'd for they didn't happen either.

It should be. It would be on any other game but this one. They'll never perma-ban him, the devs are big fans of his even though he's almost single-handily destroyed the population of one of their servers. One day they'll wake up and wonder how they let the Chief decide the game development and affect the game population so much.

...and people wonder why the game is shrinking to nothing after he pulls ***** like this **** posting and **** chatting. 'Sigh'

Can't help to notice that trolling is now allowed outside the designated forums as long as it is funny.

Two months ago? Probably not because you've had a ton of warnings for various things and tend to ignore the warnings.

Rules have changed a good bit, though. We're trying to be more permissive without letting things turn into pure trolling and fighting.

Can't help to notice that trolling is now allowed outside the designated forums as long as it is funny.

Stay out of the "no troll zones" of tech support and help, and we're golden. Just don't let it turn into a epic *****.

How exactly is tricking people into believing that one of the Dev's was quoted as talking about a new HnH project in the announcement thread not scamming?

It's not really all that funny and it's pretty different from what was allowed in the announcement threads before. At the very least try and put up a facade of modding to keep that stuff out of the info sections so that new people can actually find something useful here.
