It's not for several reasons, but most importantly: users need to be able to see posts and receive PMs from all mods. Ignoring what a mod has to say comes only at the regular user's risk. If a person is on your ignore list, you'll never get that PM they want to send (system won't let it be sent). Docs on phpBB and what you can and can't do can be found here: https://www.phpbb.com/support/documentation/

@Teck: The truth is that bulletin board software isn't something most posters are going to learn about. Most are probably going to learn the basics like using the quote button, reply, and to PM and that's it. Gamers tend to do a bit more and learn to set up a profile (location, avatar, email, etc.) Posting links like that without a mention of what it is is not an action anyone should be taking to begin with as it's malicious. It's not a YouTube link or something else that is simply a "back button" click in your browser. It's like when you're surfing porn and you get a dozen pop-up windows that won't close. (Glad we live in a modern age with smart browsers and AV software!! :P )

There is a point where it is no longer protecting anyone and is simply coddling. Links to in-forum functions that have warnings, quick and accessible reversibility, and which immediately show you and tell you what they did are about as harmless as you can get.

The problem I have is there is no information with the confirmation message as it assumes one is intentionally performing the action and provides no user feedback on what is being done. The message is literally "Are you sure you want to perform this action" with a yes/no prompt. If the message was instead something like "Are you sure you want to add XXXX to your foes list?" then I'd have no issues.

edit: Now, clicking "yes" when you have no idea what you're clicking yes to is a 'Net noob issue itself. I'll grant that, but that's the kind of thing we can't moderate, only hope we can educate the users better on.

If you're mindlessly clicking yes to things with absolutely no information (other than the fairly obvious URL name) then you likely don't meet the age-gate on these forums

UCP - manage foes: Foes are users which will be ignored by default. Posts by these users will not be fully visible. Personal messages from foes are still permitted. Please note that you cannot ignore moderators or administrators.

Are master mason's exempt from the rules that the rest of us are warned/banned for?

You need to point out the issue. If there was something there that isn't now, I can't see it. All I can see is that the post you reported was edited at the time of the report.

It was eddited without a warning/ban. Something that the mod team has warned myself and banned others for posting personal information. When questioned said mod replied with this.

Hince my question if there was some unposted rule that we don't know about.

No, nobody is supposed to get special treatment because they're a member of one group or another.

What was the link to (think the report said youtube channel)? I think it came up before, but I'm of the opinion that if it's to a public resource that can be googled via forum user name, it's hardly private personal information. I found it in about 30 seconds not knowing which link on the first page to click. I knew it was the right one when I saw that 3-day bearded mug. I don't recall that ever being the consensus among the mod team, though, so I'm just expressing my opinion, not the way we'll actually deal with the issue.
