So wait a minute,
1. The Chief says Coles surrendered, gave up scents for two recent kills that already happened, apologized in a voice recording, and gets to keep his place.
Recording came from a long time ago, about 1 month into my first treaty payment or something, they came to my walls with a bunch of larping bs reasons for breaking their treaty and raiding me. Needing more time to build up my bases's defenses I said ***** it and told them what they wanted. The end result was another few walls and full rows of braziers along with a v claim.
2. Then Coles denies this, says the tribe gave up on the seige, and that he never had any scents.
I have not left a scent since Jan 20th, 2013. As I have said. If I had left another scent, my character would have been dead by now. My leanto is out randomly in the wilderness right now
First off, If what the Chief says is true, this seems like very little punishment for all Coles has done to the tribe: Selling Reelak's stolen seeds, being part of the resistance, supporting Mushi. Coles has admitted that he has given up on keeping the base. It just doesn't seem right. Is he paying the treaty again? Is he Rangering for you again? You can't just let him get off scott free, can you? Especially after he's now denying that he ever surrendered.
No, I am not paying the treaty and no I do not currently live in that base. The only character inside of the base is the p claim owner alt. The tribe gave up their assault on my base after we nearly trapped one of their high-humoured braves inside with alt tactics. He managed to jump out but since they knew we'd logged out alts at every side of the wall to block again they decided to give up, break their waste claim and then make this thread. I do not live there but why would I give up the chance to trap and KO some braves? I'd gladly run a couple of hours back to my base to murder some braves and trade characters
Second, besides the scetchyness of the Chief's thread after all this, can any of us really believe that the Chief would ever agree to let Coles live and keep his place for a couple of scents, and some voice recording. A giant pile of his 5/5/5/5 Alt skeletons surrounding your waste claim just doesn't have that feel of finality for me if you haven't killed him or taken the base.
They knew they wouldn't get in without being KO'd

Thirdly, although this seems like a ploy by the Chief for the purpose of counter-insurgency, to lure Coles into a false sense of security and to divide the Resistance; maybe, just maybe, it's a secret deal for Coles to turn spy for the Tribe. But I mean really, after the whole Reelak betrayal, can the Tribe really ever trust Coles again.
No, and no
My guess is the Tribe couldn't breach the Fort, pulled back temporarily, and will have to Townbell it, Russian style, or come back with more people and give it another go. I won't believe it until I see Coles say he surrendered in a post. I'll be looking for a screen shot of Colesie's base down to rubble.
My base has a townbell already. "Melsonian Liberation Army". And I'll be waiting for those screens too because it's no loss for me other than the building time (done over the course of 3 months casually) with the potential of getting some brave kills
I did not surrender, they left after a long night of failure
