Let's avoid using "Nazi" as a comparison or accusing someone of being such. It's as bad as using racial slurs or other forms of discrimination. I'm sure you guys can come up with some other creative things to say without relying on hackneyed insults.

All that "you shouldn't use that bad word" thing going on doesn't really do any good in my opinion. I don't see, how changing every F-word in Biddas' posts makes them less obnoxious.
That being said, robbing the language of radicals may lessen the impact of a statement and, in time, devalue the language as a whole.
I agree with the creative things part, but if words are blocks, and sentences are buildings, you effectively cut off a part of resources fueling creativity.

Totallymute ACTUALLY extended an already idiotic ban, because the banned person ASKED when it would be released?
And totallymute banned me for CENCORING my own post, claiming it was "filter evasion". This is getting to a point that is simply laughable.
And I know fully well that this posts will get me permabanned, because that is trendy nowadays with the mods, but I just wanted to say I'm pretty disappointed. It's not a hard job, and your only job was NOT to get involved personally, emotionally or politically. That is all that is happening now.

Whether or not a post is obnoxious shouldn't have anything about which words are used, but the intentions behind the words used. I say this because this is an international forum and not everyone speaks/writes perfect English. You have to look beyond the words sometimes.

I'm quite in agreement, but somehow using the word "Nazi" as a slur somehow hasn't hit the PC bandwagon. I personally find it offensive after hearing it used at a slur for much of my childhood. Conclusion: we could moderate it when used every time as if it is being used as a slur, or we can try to interpret the persons intentions. I'd personally rather allow frank discussions on bad/failed leadership and political ideals rather than censor every possible use of the word that refers to those leaders and politicians. I'm just giving fair warning that in the future, use of certain terms may be met with moderation if they're borderline acceptable. (I can guarantee that if Paradox were still running the show here, orcling's post above would have been an immediate ban due to allowances made for German laws.)

*edit: completely off topic, but if words are building blocks and sentences are all parts of buildings, crass language meant to belittle or devalue others are the cracks in the mortar that brings the whole structure down.

But german laws don't apply here anymore. And saying someone is worse than a Nazi isn't against the law at all, you're just not allowed to publicly display Swastikas or talk POSITIVELY about Nazis, as long as you speak negatively about Nazis, everything is just fine.

Yes, the ban was extended because a user who was banned from posting, posted on the forum, which is ban evasion, which gets your ban extended. I have said it several times, you may always PM me, even when you are banned, to ask about your ban without fear of further punishment. Just don't post.

If you really want to replace a word completely with ****, that is not a problem, though I don't know why you would bother. The problem is when you replace one letter or intentionally misspell a word so that the censor won't catch it. That is not self-censoring, that is evading the censor so that the profanity is clear no matter if someone has their filter on or off.

This post will not get you in trouble, I'm perfectly willing to explain my reasons for a ban. We're also not permabanning anyone anymore, I think that has been mentioned in the past. The only time an account is banned permanently is when it is clearly trying to impersonate another account, and in that case, the poster is still allowed to post on a different account.

You're right, we're not under the Paradox rules anymore, and so don't have to follow German law. However, we are under Mortal Moments rules, and so have to post according to those, and those say "no racial slurs or discrimination." If you want to speak positively about nazism, find a forum specifically for it, maybe, or do it in such a way that you don't violate the rules. The way you used it above, it is all but a racial slur. If you were trying to be positive about the political ideal, you did it ass backwards.
