It's very simple really. Start new characters on plymouth and the first thing you should do is arrange treaty payment with paymaster paul and perhaps even join The Reservation. There is a common misperception that plymouth is not friendly to new players, when plymouth is just not friendly to non-treaty payers in general.

Alternatively you could just make a new character on Jamestown and only be at the mercy of ONE massive neckbeard and not pay anyone anything. At that point time is on your side since statistically it's much more likely heart disease will find him before he finds you out in the wilderness.

This. If you see other people have settled near you keep walking. And when you think no one is around - keep walking. When you finally find a good purity node - keep walking. If it's getting dark - stop walking. A virgin spot is the hardest thing to find in this game, but if you can get to a quiet corner you can build up in peace.

Also, until they inplement a bank or commodities warehouse or merchant exchange (auction house) or w/e in Boston - everything must be alt-vaulted, unless you are a masochist. Jorb and Loftar both know this, even though they have a permadeath game. The point is - don't permadie until you can 'resurrect' yourself via items / infusions of silver.

This is not a game for the careless.

Don't please. I am quite enjoying the fact that Dallane has to put some extra effort into copying your new avatar.

Disclaimer: by "nice" it means "nice" compared to Darworth, but nowhere "nice" compared to a friendly real life neighbour.

Salem gives a dangerous world but I know that it is really not designed with my game style in mind. So I feel like a sheep feeding the wolves that the game is really designed for.

The wolves have a large upper hand on the sheep. Which is pretty natural. However the real problem is probably in numbers. There should be lots of sheep vs the occasional wolf. Salem however is more like a wolves den.

Personally I would like to find a full loot permadeath game where the world was dangerous and things like murder and raiding where a threat in the game but not necessarily the game. Kind of a sheep's game that leaves an opening for wolves. Instead of a wolves game in need of sheep.

So Salem and HnH are not for everyone and even not completely what I am looking for. However they come closer than anything else I have found. So here I am having fun avoiding the wolves while I can.
