1. RPing villages never suceed. They either never start or crumble really quickly.

2. The only way this could suceed is if you already had a large, large faction backing this, and dedicated to it, and even then, it would be grieved horribly.

3. Chief is a ****** that thinks everything is about him, and should be ignored at all times.

Well, my bad then. I'll post it in the recruitment thread then i guess.

Ps: We will not pay the treaty, every great empire based on fear is destined to fall one day. I'd rather have a republic with only a few people, then to join your group of criminals.
Also did you misinterpreted the phrase: ''Freedom is never free'' by forcing people to pay your treaty? They are actually talkin- ah what the hell, this is hopeless to explain to the tribe :P

Also Ass_kraken, it isn't fully roleplaying. It's just that we have a ''government'', and laws and such. But the goal is to just .. play the game instead of RP'ing. But you are correct, it may seem that way a little bit. I just thought some background information would be nice ;)

1. RPing villages can succeed if the players want it bad enough.

2. They already stated they would have a military so clearly they will be able to enforce their own laws if they get this off the ground.

3. Awww don't make me blush.

Thank you for clarifying this. In that case I will enjoy meeting your republic on the field of battle.

Why would you pay them Silver if they have no National tax? or did I miss a part about an entrance fee?

This is a very interesting idea. I like to see a server besides plymouth trying to set up a system of rule. I have a few comments and questions. I hope you can answer.

Dellion wrote:The idea is to start a federal republic on the server Jamestown named Khodemia. The goal is to work together to improve the territory of the republic, and the economics (by offering cheaper trade goods for members of the republic) What the republic would do exactly is hard to tell, as the ''federal'' part shows that it will not be ruled by 1 person. It will be ruled by a consul, who will need support from the provinces to do what he/she wants.

Okay, so you want a democracy ruled by a figurehead? I really don't think this particular idea will work out for you. You need a single leader, trust me on this one. If you try to have a voting democracy in a situation like this, you'll probably end up with a disorganized sort of mob rule which will quickly deteriorate and eventually you'll realize that all you do is talk and nothing ever gets done. You need a leader. There has to be a definite way to make a final decision that everyone will abide by without so much arguing and discussion that you never actually get as far as the decision. A single person, or very small group, is best for this.

Dellion wrote:Rules:

These sound pretty good. ;)

Dellion wrote:- When you leave the republic you will have to pay a small price ...

I wonder how this will work. You can leave, but you are now subject to possible raids? Or is there some way to be safe from raids while no longer being a part of the republic? Seems to me that no one could ever really leave once they join, as the location is now known, as are assets and play times. You're about to run into a problem that a certain other ruling body in Salem has encountered.

Dellion wrote:- There will be no national tax, and by the law of the republic provinces have to always vote against a national tax (when this is for example suggested by the leader of the republic) When by bribing or other ways a national tax is made by the leader of the republic, the republic will be declared corrupt and people then have the right to attack the leader. The leader loses it's claim on the republic and the remaining provinces will decide a new leader. The person they decide should be leader will be the new official consul of the republic. People that are still supporting the old consul may be attacked without consequences. This also is the case when the leader tries to annex a member province or county or breaks any other mayor laws.

This is one of the oddest rules I have ever heard and I wonder if you thought it through. I mean really think about it. It's like you're setting up for self-destruct. Your previous rules make it clear you plan to allow any raiding on pclaims who aren't part of your group, and that you will also raid non member villages. Do you have any idea how much it takes to raid a village? It's not cheap. If no tax, you won't be waste claiming anyone. I assume that the village bells are paid by whoever owns them by whatever system they have set up... maybe you intend that individual villages raid individual villages and carry the expense themselves with no help from the rest of the republic? I suspect that won't work out. So, I wonder, how will you finance war without tax? And when you realize that you really do need a tax, will you let your own rules destroy you?

Dellion wrote:- The consul will pay a small amount of money to the national storage and bank, this amount isn't decided yet. But it will not be that much, and it will be used for various goals, but mainly to pay defensive wars or lend money to provinces

The consul has no real power and receives no tax from other members but is expected to pay money to others out of his own purse? Am I misunderstanding something?

Dellion wrote:(Keep in mind that the rules regarding trading aren't finished yet, it won't be that drastic though.)

I suggest trading only with allies and mercilessly destroying anyone who tries to underbid you, or completely free trade with no embargo at all, even for enemies. Because face it, it's too difficult to tell who an enemy is as alts are easy to come by. You either have a strangle hold on the economy, or you ... don't.

Thanks for your reaction, and i completely understand why you have questions. But here is why i said these things, to begin with the most ''wierd'' one.

It indeed sounds like a self-destruct huh? That's because it is, that's why i said it. Leaders should be afraid of breaking the nations laws, because they can end up being the ones killed. But the possibility is there, they do have the power to change the republic any way they want, it's just that on the major laws there is a big consequence on doing so. This way we can be sure the rules will stay ''normal'' and it doesn't change into something where you have to pay to not be killed.
So the consul has power. Not only the ability to create laws, but also the highest rank in the army. There are only a few laws wich he may not change, but not that many that it would drasticly lower his power.
I do have to agree on that it may be hard to finance, i had some ideas to fix that though.. I'll try to expend these ideas and i will post them here when they are finished ;) But the point is that i don't want anything like the tribe (no offence) and people shouldn't have to pay to be protected.

Well, i thought of something else that could work. People that would like to leave, but are still at a good standing with the republic may also join the Khodemian Alliance or something like that (i'll probably have to rename it, since it wont be a real alliance were we defend that country) we just won't attack it either. As soon as i have all the information i'll post it here too.

True, but we also have that. The Consul is one person wich will have the most power. The provinces will also have some power. All together this still is a small group, the counties only have limited power.

Thanks for you serieus post by the way,
