What is interesting, currently my client on github was forked by 7 people. Of those only 2 sent me any pull requests, or pushed anything into their repos. 1 pull request I declined, it contained built-in map session merger - nice thing, but will fail miserably in some cases, possibly corrupting map folder. Also I've got 2 pulls from Trojanz - 1 about chat transparency and small color tweaks - I've accepted it. And other about window positions saving - I've rejected it and implemented my own solution. And only word description of 1x1 field mod - I perfectly can replicate it, I just do not want this ****. Haven's beauty already ruined by many client tweaks, I don't want to do this to Salem, unless I must. And even those tweaks were given to me only after I've heard about some 'cool secretz client' and asked about it. So much of being open, yes? So there is 5 more forks of my client plus 1 fork of APXEOLOG's, not counting anyone who just get sources without forking on github and no info about those clients.
And all this is really upsetting me. I am all for custom clients - the more of them exist - the better. But they must be available to everyone. Hell, I have even started thinking about how modular custom client could be implemented. So everyone could choose what parts of which client he wants. But what point in doing this if most clients are secret?
