So two braziers firing on someone does half damage as one would? and 3 firing a third and so on?

Two braziers firing means each of them does half the normal damage, so both do as much damage as one would.
3 braziers means 1/3 damage for each brazier.

In the end, no matter how many braziers are firing, the perpetrator always receives as much damage as it would be 1 brazier firing.

Massively. Test it yourself.

Clue: look at what happens when you make 1 brazier red.

Well, then if you have tested it already in the new world then maybe instead of trolling in "help" section of the forum you could just tell us how it works currently. Because if it works differently than I said then apparently we have a bug.

It is not a bug. Read the announcement: "Defensive installations have also been changed in that each defense now deals Base damage * (1/N) damage, where N is the number of clustered defenses."

Read that over and over again until you understand it. Then do some crimes against your own base and test it with red braziers.

Edit: Your conclusion is only valid in the special ideal case where all braziers are built on the exact same square and are all non-red.

So what, every red brazier counts toward this N even if it doesn't shoot?

I would still count it as a bug, because this is something that promotes spamming defenses contrary to the update's intention.

What does the location have to do with it now?
