Light in mine?

How do I get constant light inside my mine? Is this impossible?
I'm not able to build a torchpost inside so I was wondering if there's something else that stays much longer than a fire?

Make yourself a hand held torch, I believe the cost is two sharpened sticks and 8 tinder, you can equip it in your offhand with an axe in main, that way you always have a source of light when you down. Then build the fireplace as suggested and use your torch to light it. You can also relight your torch from a lit fireplace as well, in case you put it in your bag and extinguish it on accident.
