I want to take over an abandoned farm.

Outside it is a Leanto with a paper note attached to it. On the yard there is an owner stone. There is no red area to trespass on and the farm is in disrepair and maybe the previous owner moved elsewhere or maybe he quit the game.

Anyway I need to know:

1. Can I destroy the old owner Stone if upkeep hasn't been paid?

2. Can I place my own Owner stone even if the old owner stone is there?

Remember that I am a new player and have browsed the forums, FAQs and YouTube videos but found nothing about the exact details of these issues.

should be able to destroy the stone even before placing your own if the money is out

2. should be yes

3. if your claim covers the leanto thats near by you should be able to destroy that as well if need be

I managed to destroy the Owner Stone.

I have writ of homesteading and 5x stone in my inventory but I can't place the Stake Claim for some reason. Any trick to doing this?

Now my friends are in Boston along with me. I enter a homestead secret and press "set". How do they teleport to my new owner stone?

You need to set a homestead secret and then ur friend follow theese steps.
Not sure if u know this but i write it anyway To give your friend rights to ur claim u can add him as kin/set him for example green.
right click ur claim stone and click the green Square and choose what rights ur "green buddys" should have on ur claim.

My friends are not new characters and have no complimentary trip available. When I right click a guide it opens their shop that sells muskets. How do I access the Wilderness Guide menu in the pictures above.

Not even a new character gets this option.

If they have already used their teleport once and gotten a leanto i Think the only way is to walk to u but im not 100%

I Think they changed it as the video is abit old and its like in the Picture i posted right now,
I logged in and checked if it changed and its still like the Picture when i tried a new character and iam almost sure the only way if ur friend have used his complimentary trip is to walk but maybe someone else can shed light on this.

Yes I managed to teleport a newly made alt with no problem.

yeah once your teleport options are gone your stuck walking, unless the toons are more than a few days old or they just are really attached its usually better to make a new one, however walking is a GREAT way to raise skills as well, just makes the trip a touch longer because your veering here and there to pick stuff up
