Prospecting range

Are the nodes you prospect are based on tool purity, or on the alchemic values of it?
For example, will 20/20/20/40 and 40/20/20/20 tools show different nodes?

It's based on alchemical values, so those rods will show different nodes.
Metal rods have +- 10 tolerance for each alchemical component

+-10 tolerance? Out of curiosity, where did that number come from? Experience? Actual testing? Raw value from Devs? Guesswork?

What I mean is: "Is that number good enough to put on the wiki?"

Do you know if there's a different value for Woo-Woo wands? My wand gave me a mine that's 10/10/40/40, which is +- 15 from the balanced elements of the 0% pure Wand. That said, I think I was exceptionally lucky to have my first mine yield 13% pure ore and that this is not a usual outcome (the 3 other abandoned mines I've been in were around 7%).

This number was mentioned multiple times by other people and my experience has, so far, only confirmed it.
This case with Woo Woo wand is weird... I have never seen them find mines with purity higher than 1-2%

my first mine was x/60/x/x found with a woo woo. worked out to 24%

Hmm...what if there's a bug with the Woo-Woo Wand and it can actually see ALL mines?

The test for this would be to find a mine node that is detectable by a Dowsing Rod but NOT a Woo-Woo Wand.

from personal findings, rods will find any mine that is within +/- 10 of all elements,

so fe a rod with 25,25,25,25

would find a mine with 16,20,34,30 but not 11,25,39,25

I was just doing some playing around with a woo woo wand and a rod which is 13/26/24/35 side-by-side comparison and found 5 mines when the woo woo wand equipped, the dowsing rod didnt see any of them.

Interesting...

This adds some further credence to my suspicion that the Woo-Woo-Wand sees ALL!

Yeah its interesting... maybe the rod since it has a bit of offset minerals is too specialized. But from my prospecting I found those 5 mines only when I used woo woo wand, the dowsing rod found 0 mines during this exercise.

If anything, people who just want a mine for iron and dont care for purity - dont bother with a dowsing rod!
