By timer loftar meant that the poison will inevitably knock you out in five minutes, which is as intended.

Anything less obviously makes the snakes complete push-overs that won't ever-ever-ever be any sort of problem to anyone except the weest noobs.

Thanks for clearing that up. I guess many (me included) thought a timer means it would eventually go away ;)
I never managed to figure out something clever for my signature on Paradoxplaza, and I doubt I'll do it here either.

Due to those 5 minutes timer rumours Ive tried to stand the poison but as its already answered, its not working this way. Though I could prevent myself from KO for fairly longer than that and what Ive noticed (not sure about this) - the longer you persist without getting KOed - the poison gets more lethal, meaning it drains more phlegm.
So however hard youre trying - youll always get KOed unless you use the serum.

I could, for the record, perhaps see a case to be made for a mechanic where snakes do not always deterministically give you the poison debuff every time they hit you.

That would be good :)

Also I'm curious does walking around with a torch deter snake attacks?

Perhaps give them a 2-hit combo attack and the second hit of the combo could administer the venom. That way if you got the timing right you could get away or stun or kill them before they actually hit with it. As it is atm it takes a fair amount of skill to kill them without getting poisoned and usually noobs (meaning newbs i guess, I just find noob looks cooler) don't have enough skill yet.

So you say its possible to hit&kill snakes without getting poisoned ? Do you mean timing "Stomp" perfectly then running and repeating ?

Depending on your stats a single stomp then thrust or whatever does it without taking a hit. I just too often time the stomp fractionally late :(
