Using a fire (cooking Filet on the rocks)

So I want to cook the filet on the rocks recipe and have all the ingredients but when I want to cook it it says "You are not close to a fire". So I lighted two fireplaces. One went already out but I can't use either one. So, how am I supposed to do it? I would be glad for a detailed guide, for I seem to be uberstupid

When you need to use a fire, you must right click on a lit fire. That should make you walk to it and kind of lock onto it. Then try using the craft.

Yes, some guys sometimes have a bit problems while working anything with FIRE.
But search function helps often.
