Braziers and 3 walls?

Why does it take 3 walls destroyed before a brazier will attack? Why dont they attack as soon as crime is commited i.e. tresspass or first hit ? Is this a bug, or intended, and if intended, what is reasoning behind it?

Thanks

It's just my guess but I assume that if braziers triggered on any crime then raiders could simply use multiple alts with no skills to tresspass and drain braziers of their fuel.
With the way it works now you need at least "waste" skill to trigger braziers

OK, I can see the sense in that, but still...3 walls seems a bit excessive before firing. Its not like they cant eat to recharge and wait a little after destroying first, then second, then third.

From what I know braziers trigger when enemy attacks 3rd wall, not when he destroys it.

They have to wait more than a little with the recent crime debuff changes.

wouldnt it be easier to just make walls 3 times as hard to destroy? places start to look....silly...with 3 walls around them, not to mention the planning nightmare when trying to expand your area from small safe start spot.

I would rather have claim "alarm meter" fill out while wall is destroyed, not only when scent is left. So that braziers start to fire before first wall is destroyed.

I wish they would find some other solution. Having to have three gates on each exit is going to be obnoxious. I've already cleaned out most of the granite boulders in my area just making one layer, and it's proving hard to add more because I want to eventually expand the base, but I can only plan ahead with the walls by flattening the whole thing out. If I was going to do that I may as well build the new sections now entirely.

It looks stupid, it takes up too much space, and it's a waste of resources.

Perhaps when they finally add stone and brick walls, they'll just be three layers wide to begin with, but each "block" is destroyed separately of the others. That'd give us the same thing we have now, but it'd look better and it'd be less obnoxious to build.

i don't even want to know what we would have to get to build those brick walls...

but if you dont want to build 3 layers of stone hedge, just build 2 layers wood fence (to get the braziers going) and the third a stone hedge (which they have to destroy under brazier fire)
