Mine Nodes

Quick question about mine nodes. Do mine nodes cover the entire surface or are some spots barren?
A better way of asking this might be say I have a particular spot picked out where I want to build a mine, is t just a matter of finding the right purity dowsing rod?

I don't think the purity of dowsing rods matters anymore, as purity in mines is now determined by how far down you're digging, not in what mine you're digging. I'm 99% sure that if you can't find it with either a woo woo wand or dowsing rod of any purity, it's not there.

Yeah, I thought that was outdated but the wiki page on the dowsing rod got my hopes up. When I get an new account/remember my old password I'll fix it.
The Wiki wrote:The rod will only found nodes within 10 points of each of its elements.
