Any tips on how to catch these fellows?


I think they are fresh water (although I've fished sea as well) - I've tried different baits but no luck.

Is there a fishing guide anywhere other than the stuff on the Wiki?

My guess is they would be from when Fishing traps were... fishing traps instead of shellfish traps. If the wiki page doesn't have anything then all you can do is try and see if you can catch one yourself.
