Necklace disappeared.

I haven't played this toon for a couple weeks.
I checked, I had 17 ious.
I bought a necklace, and a masonic kit. Both were in my inventory.
I picked up the kit, rt-clicked over my necklace, both disappeared.
Neither is in my inventory, and all but a couple of my ious are gone.
Is this a bug? Or did I do something wrong?

The necklace has a chance to break upon upgrading.

Perhaps turn it into moderate inspirational, akin to gem shard (F&W, H&N ?), plus insanity gain when kept in inventory.

Gem Shard seems reasonable. No need to make it give madness I don't think. it will just serve as a gentle reminder of the players greed in trying to advance to the next level of the lodge.
