Locks & Keys

Ok problem with locks & keys
Have 4 characters at homestead, have been given keys attuned to them.
They attune to locks, lock is attached to gate.
Problem is last person to attune lock is only person that can open gate
How do we fix????????????

The keys need to be copies of the same original key. Keep in mind when you craft master keys you get 2 distinct master keys. Any master and slave copy of a key will unlock the same locks. You need to attune a master key or a master copy of a key to a lock for that lock to then be opened by any other copy of the same master key.
Exactly 6.022 x 10^23 worth of Lach molecules.

It's complicated to explain with out demonstrating visually, here is a video link below, hope it helps:

Also like lachlaan said: which ever character has a master-key (that has a green text description) a master-key to a locked item, that character can attune a new lock to that item if they have the old master-key to that lock in their inventory somewhere while they try to attune a new lock to it. ...complicated to try an explain.

If you cannot work it out, gates are easy to destroy without causing splash damage, and then easy (material wise) to replace again.
Your biggest loss in replacing a gate will be the old locks.

i made copies of my master for my alts, they work for any lock that i have attuned to my original key and the ones that i attune to it as i go, is there a key i can make that will be only attuned to the locks that i have in place now and not get access to the future ones i attune my master key to....man i hope that made sense

No, but you can make a new master key and the more mature characters will need to carry copies of both. Stop attuning the old key, attune the new key to new locks. Trusted characters get both keys, less trusted characters get only the new key.

Take away permision on your claim for that character so even if you force close the client the character will stay logged in.
Then just assign the key and thats it :)
