Salvaging a Mine Support ?

Postby Gustyboy » Sun Jan 21, 2018 8:12 pm

Hi,

I was mining and I got a cave'in. So I built a Mine support to prevent the fall of rocks.
But this Mine Support is not good because I was planning to build an Ore Smelter where it is...
What happens if I salvage (or destroy if salvaging is not possible) the Mine Support ?
Does the cave'in start again ? Does the "cavein chance" rolls again for every mined tile not supported anymore ?
Or may I just have to be careful the next tile I mine and prepare a Mine Support ?

Thanks a lot !

your best bet is to bite the bullet and have the cave in happen, in case there's nothing important close. Or change your base plan.
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.

Thanks for the advice.
I've change my plans because there is already a Smelter next to the cavein, so I don't want it to be destroyed :)

A smelter is rather cheap and easy to make, and you could salvage it so chances are you won't even lose much at all.

Caveins are bad, always do your best to take care and prevent them, and if they happen, let them happen or you'll have a mine support there forever. ^^

Can't you just build another support beam close by the one you plan to salvage to cover the area before you salvage it ?

no, a beam only stops a cavein, it is still there at the exact point, the only way to get rid of it, is let it happen and be more careful next time
