Now I'm confused... I watched a KKK guy - with red cap - go into my plot (I intentionally left the gate open to it, I was standing in the middle of a different claim with gates closed.) He went in, and I watched the trespassing scent appear, then he took an item or two (unimportant stuff) from several of the boxes. I watched the scents appear. Then moments later, ALL the scents disappeared. I logged completely off and stopped the game, then logged back on, with 2 different toons. NO SCENTS visible.

Is this a bug? (Or do they have a hack going? - turned out not to be the case)

Or does it have something to do with the bloodmoon?

Sometimes you just need to zone in and out for then to load. But that's a bit tricky if you're stuck in place

Indeed tracking shows scents in an 'uncovered' area. IF you turn it on and the area is already loaded you may need to unload the tile and reload it to see them.

Thanks for help. Another player says HE sees the scents. I will report back, if I find anything different, otherwise I assume this is the answer. That is, quitting the game, then restarting it, has not caused the "tiles to reload".

Move away from the scent covered tiles and come back to them witb tracking on.
Scents dont show when you turn on tracking , atleast not before tile teload.
Also, tracking is not turned on automaticly when you log in the game, so, you can standing on top of them and tile load/ reload will still be necesary.

My client is set to come up with scents on.
I haven't understood the mechanics of why the scents disappeared moments after I was attacked. Nor why my other toon couldn't see the scents either.
But as you have pointed out, the solution was to port to Concord, then return, and scents were visible to me, with multiple other players verifying that THEY see the scents too.

That is not exactly what's happening when you have this option on.
You still log in with tracking turned off, but your client automatically turns it on in a second. You get the area you're at loaded without scents being visible prior to tracking turning on.
