Animal spawn rate

I think i heard months ago that animals had a less chance to spawn in darkness, if that's so, is it better to hunt bears as far as possible from where darkness starts?

Best place to hunt for bears is along any animal trail - outside of darkness preferably unless you're a witch .

No, everywhere in the light is the same for animal spawn rate. Being closer to darkness can make it more likely for a rabbit to spawn as a March Hare, and other darkness animals need a certain level of darkness before they'll start to appear, but light animals are unaffected.
