Animal Corpses - "Persistent" or Not

Postby Matthias Frost » Wed Aug 08, 2012 11:34 am

So the question is, how long *Should* animal corpses stay around for on a claim?

There was a update on the old forum saying they are now persistent, but over night (like 7hrs) I lost 2 deer on a claim (paved too) unskinned/butchered and the discussion on IRC got various answers from - Persistent means they won't despawn but can decay, corpses having lasted upto 3 days and others having issues of them disappearing randomly too.

So unlucky and working as intended or bug?

Edit : Dropped another one to see how long he lasted, disappeared after about 4hrs

The corpses are persistent until the map area unloads. When the map unloads currently (no players within viewing distance for 10-15 minutes), all corpses are wiped. You can store them in leantos indefinitely though. Villager of mine had the last high Purity deer in his leanto for two months *shudders*. Named her Gloria.

Pretty sure this is merely a placeholder system though.
It's been neat to see the evolution of a game. Salem has come so far, and still has far to go. Although frustrating, I think it's been an experience worth the effort.
