Using Keys

Hey I just got my friend to join me at my claim and gave him a key to the gate but it wont let him open it? I've tried the key myself and it works, does he also need locksmith?

You need to attune the key to him. Click the key, right click your friend, and wait...the key will turn red for you and green for him.
