alloying

hi,

alloying - how does it work?

so far i have only done a small number of "smelter loads" but it seems that it does nothing in relation to bar yield

i'v done 2 loads with 15 ore + 10 lime and no alloying (only ~120 from produtkion) which yielded 2 bar each
and 2 loads with 15 ore + 10 lime with ~400 alloying which yielded 2 bar each too

so is that normal or am i doing something wrong? when exactly does the game checks the alloying skill? i would guess when the smelter is lit? or do i have to mine the ore/lime with alloying gear too?

i would really appreciate if someone could shed some light on this and/or share his/her experience.

Alloying is indeed calculated when the smelter is lit.

As JC wrote 800 alloying will yield you 0,5 bars of metal each run so you need 2 runs for one ber "Extra", 400 alloying i assume will yield you 0,25 bar so one bar "extra" for 4 smelters

The formula is not linear. But indeed the benefits of alloying present themselves more obviously over larger samples than smaller ones.

Gah, I don't smelt enough metal to make it worthwhile for me. Unless it affects the amount of wrought iron, steel and gold bars you get

yeah it would be nice if alloying decrease amount of gold flakes needed for an egg
