Would you guys recommend claiming a plot next to or near Boston?

Ok cool, the plot that the guide started me at is very uneven, so I am going to have to look for a fairly flat area to start

*edit* Also how do I rotate the camera on a laptop?

use a usb mouse? its how I do it...

as far as being flat, as long as you have enough space for a leanto and some drying frames you're ok early on...main thing is getting away from other people, and you can flatten later(unless you're on a mountain then you should definitely move)

Read your manual. There should be something about duplicating a middle mouse button. It's usually holding both left and right buttons down, though.

And good luck on finding that "flat" land. Other than too many cliffs, there's not a lot of good areas to settle in that are close to flat.

Can't stand touchpads, no idea how people use them to play games without getting frustrated.
Living next to Boston is a horrible since it's the first place criminals search for raiding opportunities since they can walk back to Boston and teleport all the goods back and the scents will be harder to track with them living far away from you.

If your random spawn is undesirable, wander around until you find a better place. If you find the area too crowded, or if you want an area with more people, you can try spawning again.
