Not entirely sure how to make Willowbark Tonic. I place a piece of willowbark in a clay pot over a fire and all I get is soaked bark. I am obviously doing this wrong, can someone please help.

The liquid inside pots after a bark is soaked will turn into different things depending on the bark used.

So how do I obtain the liquid then, I have a barkcup. Am I able to store the tonic somewhere after?

You could right-click your pot on your bark cup to fill it up.

A more in depth solution is
step 1: Make sure it's actually willowbark
Step 2: Boil willowbark in water
Step 3: Once bark is soaked take it out
Step 4:Take your pot off the fire
Step 5: Click pot and right click onto a cup or flask (preference really)
Step 6: EQUIP the cup to your hand first
Step 7: Drink from said flask or cup

If this DOESN'T fully answer your question then there is no hope for you friend.

If I boil food at the same time or after boiling the bark, does that negate the making of the tonic?

I believe it does not, but it does reduce the (water) level with each thing you boil.
I'd recommend just making a barrel, and storing tonic in there to avoid anything contaminating it if possible.
If a barrel is to rich for your blood, just put it in a bucket.

Sorry guys, I still don't seem to get it. How many willowbarks do I need to have in the pot to make the tonic. I just tried it with one and nothing happened.

One is indeed enough. The tonic is the 'fluid' in the pot.
