Oakum is made using new item Fired Bottle of Tar which is made from an Unfired Bottle of Tar.
Canoes now require a Paddle in their construction, while Rowboats require two. Rowboats also no longer require Iron Bars, but take nails instead.

Does anyone know what the rules are for Rowboats taking damage. If they don't decay do they receive damage when being used. Mine just sunk underneath me. It contained two size 25 lime boulders and two chest full of lime. I was in deep water at the time, thankfully with enough phlegm to swim to shore. I had been thinking that the boat looked like it was damaged and was about to repair it, I had got as far as making the jar of tar. Wish I had now, obviously, as the cost has gone up since I made it, oh well, live and learn. Just wondered if anyone else was clear on the damage rules.

Currently.

Takes a bit of damage on average every 1,000 tiles sailed.

After December Patch.

No Damage for sailing.

Many tears. If only I had repaired it just that once. Thanks for the quick and clear response.

Thank you for making boats usable. I'll make one right after the patch. I already have the skill but saw no point in dumping silver into water a bit at a time.

The only reason I have one is because my lime pit is just across my pond, its easiest to transport the lime in my boat (before it sunk), and that boat was much cheaper to build, no oakum back then.
