Planks of wood

After all this time i've finaly figured out the basics of what i'm supposed to be doing (still having problems with the gluttony system ) and i've just aquired carpentry but find that i still don't have an option for a saw or planks. I can butcher rabbits, i thought it would be like hnh where i'd get bones, but, no.
So what is it that i need in order to be able to make planks?
I did a search for saw/planks but nothing came up.

You need a sawbuck, then lift up a log (after cutting down a tree) and place it on the sawbuck.
You'll also need an axe if you don't have one already.
