My only guess is that the science of the randomizing test tubes are meant to push your sapling just a little bit further. One of the current problems is that test tubes are unpredictable and their effect on higher purity items is woefully underpowered.
I bet we can expect a change to that in the near future.

Oh, so you are noticing that the test tube modifications become smaller as the item has higher purity? That's a big let down.... Ugh what a painful system.

I really wish they make Tree Cuttings respawn

Tree cuttings do respawn, it just takes quite a while. My "patient 0" if you will, from which I took my first grand maple saplings regrew them in the time it took me to get almost 3 generations of trees. So 30 days sounds about right for how long they take to regrow.

Are you 100% certain about this, that you are not mixing it up with another tree? Because I have a tree by my bread oven which I took my very first cuttings from, and I take branches from it every day to feed stove/oven and I have not yet seen the option to take cuttings appear again. Not sure if its been quite 30 days yet but I should be reaching that time very soon if I have not already

Anyway... 1 month to respawn them is pretty ridiculous considering you could have grown close to 4 new generations of full trees by that time

I think the respawn rate depends on the habitation.
My red maple (2nd gen) right next to my turkey takes like a week or so to take the second cutting,
whereas my 1 st generation pine that are not within my active area still wouldn't allow me to take cutting apart for the second time

It takes 5 weeks. I've been doing a test for the last month+ and all the trees I took cuttings from respawned on the same day 5 weeks after I took the first ones. A stupidly long amount of time now that there's purity involved.

Eh, too late now.. I cut down my top purity trees to make compost bins. And then starting chopping others to make timber piles since I figured they were useless after I got their cuttings...

i really want to get started with purifying my crops but i'm pretty confused...
i understand i feed the worms and all, and then i get better humus, leading to better pumpkins... am i right in thinking the pumpkins will be higher in the same element the worms and humus were? do i need it to be the same element that i will look for in clay and lime an granite an water for my gardening pots? what about my crops? how will their gluttony and healing points be affected by being pure in different elements? i'm sure i read something about it somewhere but i don't remember where or anything. it's all a lot to take in  do i need different crops to be pure in different elements?

If you want crops pure in element A then you must:
  1. Build compost bin pure in element A
    1. Grow tree pure in element A
      1. Find clay pure in element A or water pure in element A to make clay with
      2. Find granite pure in element A
      3. Find lime pure in element A
      4. Create pot which will end up being pure in element A using an average of element A's value across the lime, granite and clay you use
      5. Place humus with highest value of element A you have into pot
      6. Place water pure in element A into pot
      7. Plant sapling with highest value of element A you have into pot
      8. Wait for ~2 days for sapling to either become a plant able tree or a shriveled useless stick depending on how high your natural philosophy and stocks & cultivars are
      9. If you are lucky and get plant-able tree, plant it into the ground and wait ~7 days until it is full grown so you can get good amount of wood from it (though I recommend you wait until you can get cuttings from that tree which will have a higher level of element A than what you first started with, and replant that)

  2. Raise worms pure in element A
    1. Find worms from digging, stumps, or from compost bins
    2. Place worms into a container
    3. Find plants which fall under the "Any Plant" category which are high in element A
    4. Place plants into container in squares adjacent to the worms
  3. Place worms pure in element A into compost bin pure in element A and wait for humus to generate which will also be pure in element A (purity depending on complicated function of bin purity, worm purity and worm efficiency)
  4. Prepare field with humus pure in element A
  5. Sow seeds which you can find as high in element A as possible
  6. Wait for [crop growth time] days until harvest
  7. Hope the random number generator is kind and bumps your resulting harvest's element A value even higher
  8. Repeat all the steps above for next minor incremental gain in element A purity

And of course you can quadruple you fun by doing all of the above with each of the other 3 elements as well! ;)
