right but why not help the one everyone can see until its back up? After that you just need to copy over.

why do we even have two, still? i realize that the tribe thinks i'm a colossal ****** or whatever but i'm barely involved in the wiki, the current admins are active players who are updating and maintaing it, i'm just providing a stable host. the tribe kinda imploded, owner of the site is gone(?), hosting provider or configuration or something(?) continues to suck and make it inaccessible, etc. what's the objection anyone has to the .info wiki?

I'm not tribe; I've simply been the most active on the tribe wiki since December. It's been my way of giving something back to Salem. I have no problem with you Sabinati. I appreciate your efforts as well. I once tried to edit your wiki and my changes got deleted, this was a long way back, and I know things are different. I have an account and I have offered some advice and a change or two on that wiki as of recent. I didn't start the tribe wiki, it was simply there when yours wasn't, I've put a lot of time and love into it and don't want to jump ship if I don't have to. It's up enough to edit and for now those with patience can copy the data over from there to the other and I will work with those people. I am told it will be up by release date and I trust that.

The reason I decided to rehost the tribe wiki is because I know for a fact that I will keep it running as long as the Salem servers are running. It isn't a bad thing to have two in place in the event something were to happen to either of the two people hosting them. **** happens man and this game is important to me, and the wikis are a very important part of helping players learn about the game so they stick around.

Also for the record, the new host is purchased and the backups are in hand. Now if I can just figure out how to execute a php script from cpanel we will be golden. First time webhoster guy here seeking assistance in doing something that is probably comically easy to someone who has done these things before. PLS HALP ME!

I don't know much about webhosting, I would have to sit down and tinker with it. Usually you just go to where the script is located then type ./script.php

I can ask my friend who does web hosting for a living and see if he can help out a bit, I'm sure he would oblige as a favor to me. Send me a PM

edit: Today I am busy all day so I won't be at my pc but tomorrow I'll get at my buddy for you

You should come to the dark side and work on the tribe wiki instead ...

Thank you. :3 And yeah, I'm pretty objective when it comes to the wiki's and think there's some truth in what Brona say about having two. For me personally that gives me a feeling of security in regards to experimental projects such as with the pavement page, if it has only been one I would been more hesitant about doing such larger changes.

I might contribute to both once the hosting solution is fixed which I wish Brona the best of luck with!

Though I am actually able to get access to the tribe-wiki almost all the time now already through the use of a VPN (like 98% of the time), but ironically there's some conflict that gives me an error when I try to submit anything over the web while it's doing its magic on a page, whether it's a forum post or a wiki edit… I don't think it's the VPN itself that is the issue though since my friend that is also using it isn't having that problem, so maybe you guys are luckier than me with that if you decide to try it. The one I'm using is called "Hola Better Internet".

So for now I'll focus on getting the sabi-wiki one more up to date with the tribe-wiki one, it needs the love more anyway imo.
