Lol are you stuck? No where to climb up or down? If your truly got screwed by the port mechanic then I would either start a new character or dig up 30 silver for another port. Walking out of Boston will take you forever to find an area not completely ravaged or very likely to be found by Indians.

Or port back to town, forage a savage charm, and pay for a new port.

If you have the skill to build a new leanto (Hiking), you can wander a bit around the edge of the mountain looking for a promising enclave. My first character did this and was able to hug the shore for an hour or so until he ran into an isolate island with enough space and biomes to support a few small farms (the only thing I missed was grassland, which I could get in Boston, but benefitted by having badlands which are almost as good).

Lol yep. I just started playing, so I can't craft a savage charm just yet. I'll probably just make a new guy.

Watch out for NPCs, they're mean.

Yes, I saw this! My character was wandering around and saw the leanto down in this deep hole. My thought was "why the heck would anyone build a leanto there?" Followed quickly by "How did they get down there, anyways?"

I forgot about the free teleport mechanic. Lol.

Well, better luck with your next camp.

Actually I have found and intend to settle in a location fairly similar to that, but with more space. Seems fairly secure to me. Then again, I'm terrible at this game, so who knows?

Far as I know, roa and james don't yet have noob murderers haunting boston. Walking out of there is fairly safe.
It's been neat to see the evolution of a game. Salem has come so far, and still has far to go. Although frustrating, I think it's been an experience worth the effort.
