witchcraft books only spawn at extreme low elevation, which means if you ever want to have a decent chance to forage one you will have to dig a decent size pit at least 50x50 wide and -400 elevation, then plant trees at the bottom to create a stump farm.

As you reach elevations lower than -400 the spawn rate increases exponentially each additional 40 units. You can also encourage spawning by placing a bible, a cross, and a live turkey in each stump. Be sure to leave the lower left slot open, as that is the only stump slot that will spawn the witchcraft book.
