Find me what kind of hard, psychoactive drugs puritans were growing and I might say that idea isn't terrible.
Only thing I can find is booze, and the moldy, trippy rye bread that probably started off the whole salem witch hunts.

Despite the name, Salem isn't strictly about the Puritans, but NE US and the folklore surrounding it. Hemp is likely one of the things grown, though hemp itself isn't very narcotic or hallucinogenic.

They weren't exactly cultivating that... it was more a side-effect from rye farming. Gives an idea for some curios, though....
