Im keeping track of my record and it is at 4 now. I think the higher your sparks and embers is the lower your chances of actually starting the stupid fire. Never had a problem at 10 blood.

Check your phlegm. I've heard rumors this has to do with it. The value doesn't have anything to do with it, but the percentage full. I can't necessarily say I've seen this, but some think this is true, so I'm just letting you know it may be a possibility.

Do what the rest of us do, though. Light a torch before you log out and put it in your hand. When you log on, fill a fireplace and light it with your still burning torch.

Record for me is 4 also, but the 4th one actually knocked me unconscious. My friend Dreth on Roanoke just had 8 fail on him supposedly.

the trick is to have your character take deep breaths.

Has anyone else noticed that fail chance is greatly reduced when you use tinder drill to light a torch instead of campfire? Or is that just my luck?

Mine's 4 I think.

Indeed light a torch before you log out, or if you have plenty of iron and don't feel like managing fire all day, a flint and steel is handy to start your initial fire every day.

My record is 5.

Does it also seem like the more blood you have the more damage to blood you take per fail?

My fire lifting ritual is to gently press the mouse button and then pulling my hand away from the mouse so as to not move the cursor or accidentally click anything while the character is huffing and pudding.

4. I dual monitor, so when lighting a torch, I look away from the monitor hosting that window of the game and focus intently on anything else, purposely NOT looking at the game or the percentage numbers. Rather than ignoring it, I find myself showing humility and a refusal to make "eye contact" with that monitor.

I have no idea why I do this.
