You still haven't replied to these questions:
Is this a laptop or a desktop? Many latops have hidden recovery partition (lenovo for example).

Also, how do you know 70gb is missing? Size of all partitions summed is less than your HDD's capacity, or partition has some unfree space even though there is nothing on it?
You do have display of hidden folders enabled, right?

I still don't know what does "missing 44 gig" mean to you

I'm sorry.. uhh lets see the total hdd capacity is 80g (dont stone me yet) it is a desktop yes hidden folders are displayed I recently usedwindirstat and discovered that is was my hibernation file and my pagefile that were taking up a considerable amount of space.

and according to windirstat 24gig is used by windows (win 7)
5.4gig to the sims 3 (I have practically every store and expansion item)
8gig to pagefile (equal to the total amount of ram I have)

To break it down my total hdd (usable space) is 74.4
24g (windows 12g of which is in a file [winsxs])
16.4g (user stuff sims, music, pictures, video, ect)
8g Pagefile
8.2 (program and x86, also nvidia drivers 1.3gig?)

so that leaves me with 17.8 gig of usable space and since my older external (coincidentally named Old crone) just died I'm left with my 80gig internal and my second 320gig external.
