Griefing protection - that pretty much sums it up.
All the other things, like vchat are not really necessary to have.
And I'd rather sink some massive amount of silver into a claim without any daily drains any day if it was only safe from declaiming.

Unless it got fixed, braziers will be controlled by the townclaim first. So if you tick off the town claim, the braziers on a personal claim will go after you, even if that's your claim. The town claim will also drain you right through Pclaim.

These were all reported in pre-com though. I'm sure at least some have been fixed. The upkeep of a non-expanded town claim is quite manageable for an active player.
It's been neat to see the evolution of a game. Salem has come so far, and still has far to go. Although frustrating, I think it's been an experience worth the effort.

Now that the crime has changed, different claims also give you seperate crime debuffs. If you have a village claim, all of the crimes committed will stack on a single debuff. A raider could hit up multiple personal claims, and split his crime debuffs so they wont last nearly as long.
