Neither one have nice graphics compared to other games at this date. Back in 2012 the graphics already were years behind, but despite all of this its not so much about graphics. It has more to do with the urge to feel special and the ability to feel special and hoard rare items. For example a witch hat used to be super rare (untill Marp handed them out as candy during X-mass events). Same goes for the golden halberds, it has very little to do with the cosmetics but far more with the rarity and the brag rights.
