So, Mexico defaulted on loans made to it by Spain, France, and England. They all sent troops to object. Mexico renegotiated with Spain and England, but France chose to fight them. They won this one battle, but lost the overall war. And that one battle is what they're celebrating. That's like the saddest holiday ever.

You mean mexicans were trying to kick people out of their country? Weird.

Mexican history is fairly interesting with it's politics. Esp this. France actually set up a monarchy in mexico which eventually failed. People think that if the french monarchy had lasted they would of aided the confederacy and changed the war of northern aggression. Late 1800s is a extremely interesting time period to see how America shaped the world with a war within it self.
