Doubt it will have that much of an impact, yes surely a couple people will try it or maybe even stay there but thats about it IMO.

There was already a thread about it

To be fair the games have different vibes and will likely both retain players. Even if both are pretty time consuming the people that can afford the time to play one can at least casually play both and likely will if both end up being decent quality and keep feeding the hungry hungry content-hippos with fun stuff to not let the games get stale

Hoping expeditions will be that something for Salem, would be nice to see the original momma and poppa of Salem also do well with Haven

I'm sure that a lot of people will try it out here. I doubt anyone will stay because haven is much more pvp orientated. I can say that this game will def not flop. Haven still has alot of people playing. You should hope that it does well as it will give more exposure to Salem and encourage more people to get into sandbox/permadeath mmos. Success for one game is success for the other.
I think it will have a great start especially with it's very long history. You will see ALOT of old and new faces show up for hnh2. Once they hear there is another game similar and started by jorbtar they will check salem out. I see both populations going up for both games. It should be very exciting in both communities.

I originally found Salem because of H&H. Only reason I stopped playing it was because I was getting bored of it and it didn't look like the development was going anywhere. Now that that's not the case, I'm definitely gonna probably end up playing both. H&H had a lot of things unique to it that I loved that I'm eager to get back into. I loved the atmosphere, the isolation, the weapons (bring bows to Salem so I can feel like Legolas damn it JC!) but Salem has its own points going towards it - more entertaining combat system and the mystical elements. As said before, hopefully this fact will lead to both communities growing instead of one swallowing the other.

Hell I only stopped playing H&H because the server lag was so damn bad there for awhile. I would definitely go back to check it out! Get ready Ender, time to make a new client!

Server lag was fixed a very long time ago. Both games have about the same now.
