Hi there I'd just like to tell you guys about a hunting technique I've discovered after seeing deer and bears fight by themselves. I like to call it deer herding and it can work with 1-2 people. If you encounter a bear on one of your foraging runs and you circle around it and find a deer within a few screens you're in business. You simply stand next to the deer and block its path from going anywhere other than towards your bear (obviously this part works better with more than one person). Once the deer and the bear are within about 10-15 tiles you may want to back off because if the bear kills the deer and you're too close he will come for you next (as my friend found out). This will guarantee you at least a deer carcass if not a bear, or even both if there's another deer around! I find this form of hunting fun to do and fairly challenging when trying to herd your deer around and hope to see other getting success using it. On a side note I've gotten about 7 bears and 3 deer using this hunting technique and here are a few screenshots of the aftermath.
Cheers!
