Yes. It does. It's unintended, but remember that solitary new players:
1) Have to walk a lot to find a good location to settle;
2) Are not fully aware of madness mechanics (hell, they don't know even how to make wrought iron or build an oven);
3) When they get some madness levels it's annoying difficult to lower madness since they can't enter the Den and can't mine geodes (theyr "costly" pickaxe will break).
If they're aware of things that raise and decrease madness they're good, but that is not the case. The solitary newbie is still thinking where to build his base, how to protect it, and which skills to get first.
And please don't say that it's ok to loose your first char with madness within 1~3 weeks of playing. Players can find a reasonable way in all other difficulties in this game - but in the SPECIFIC case I'm speaking they can't. The
DEVS are ignoring the fact that not much solitary newbies use this forum and the system is actually pretty boring for them - an additional barrier to play the game.
(Personally at the moment my char has no problem with madness, but I needed to stop playing for days and I needed help from a vet. Almost stopped playing)
