The PM was interpreted by both the user who received it and myself as being malicious and an attempt to intimidate by revealing he had tracked down real life information about an anonymous account.

Any posting of one's own personal data is entirely at the user's own risk, and when posted to the forum, is considered to be consent.

This rule was also violated in that there was no consent to post the photo.

All in all, a 3 day ban was actually a light punishment.

If Suffragium posted that photograph, which I don't even know how he acquired, on the main forum boards, I would absolutely understand the need for a ban, but as he was not literally threatening Binks with it, this is absolutely absurd.

If i sent you a picture of yourself and you were unsure of how I had gotten it wouldn't that make you feel uncomfortable? If they had a picture they could plausibly know where he lives. It isn't alright to make someone fear for their real life safety to any degree.

The rules as I read them state public information revealed by person themselves is fair game. If that picture was grabbed from a Facebook account created under the same persona as used in the forums, it'd be open season. But grabbing photographs from someone's Facebook account under their real-life name and then parading them in front of the supposed-to-be anonymous person here is, in fact, a malicious act. There's no legitimate purpose for this other than "I've been trying to track you down and I know you who are."

Are you serious right now trying to apply forum rules to what is public information? However he managed to get a supposed facebook account or that picture, there was some information revealed in a public fashion, somewhere. I can think of another legitimate purpose and that is to ridicule and make fun of the way someone looks. Perhaps a malicious act itself, but not in the sense you would deem it to be.

I was banned for a month for posting an incredibly low resolution picture of a certain person's chest hair. I didn't know who's it was or that it would be an issue. It didn't even show his face...

If I was an all around piece of **** I would go on the forums of a game I don't even play and post nonsense in response to things that don't even concern me.
