Martinuzz, as much as I agree on extending village management mechanics, it is possible to properly screen new members and design a village in a secure way.
For example you don't give vandalism permissions to any new villager, but instead set pclaims in areas where you want new members to operate, and give them permissions on this claim. Or have them live outside of village until they prove they can be trusted.
The point is that those things only work for big villages or factions, and not for people looking for some random others to play with.

Pclaims on village claims are broken atm, for messing with braziers

When properly designed, braziers and walls are outside those pclaims. Pclaims for areas with infrastructure for townies, infrastructure which is expandable. Braziers and walls only on vclaim.

edit: you also have to design it so that noone else will be able to plant pclaim inside, or outside and then extend it to the inside.

That's one of the reasons it doesn't work for people who just want to play with someone.
To properly design a village you have to make plan beforehand, know all mechanics, have lots of space AND silver to properly support it all. Oh, and spend some time building all needed defenses.

It is possible, but I don't see any reason why wouldn't better management be introduced.

If braziers are just on town claim, a spy can destroy them with impunity.

How, by reading their forum posts?

It is tricky to build up a towns player base. Using 'Planter's and Pilgrims' invites spies, and inviting people that you don't know invites "Bad" Towns people.

I've found 3 things that make a good person for a town, from talking with other mayors:

1. Talk with them a bit and get to know them. Ask them where they're from and get to know they're personality. Help them out a bit, give them something, like a metal axe or something they can't make. See if they maybe give you something back later on, or see if they thank you.

2. Trade with them. See how trust worthy and hard working they are. Give them a simple trade chore like hay, leather, or just gathering mushrooms for you from their own base and pay them a good price for it. This will show you that they don't mind a little boring work to make a little money. Too many people want instant bumps from joining a town, get to know them through trading with them.

3. Before letting them join set down exactly what you want your town to look like in the future, what they're allowed to use and take, and what they're going to have to do for the town. this means how much they'll have to work, pay, or dig for the town. If you have special things like: They need to own a microphone, or they need to be on a certain amount of time, or they need to play on this exact schedule, then tell them that before they move all their **** to your town. A lot of conflict comes from people just not knowing the rules or misunderstanding chat lines.

There are a ton of noobs off the boat every day. A lot of them quit in a week, but some stick it out. I can make some recommendations if you need some new blood.

If he doesn't have vandalism permissions on vclaim then he would surely trigger them?
Besides, shouldn't at least part of braziers be protected by walls from all sides?
In any case - every part of the village, where all new villagers have easy access to, is basically expendable.
Part of the proper design is to divide village into sections and manage access to them, as well as properly protect those most important

Good evening,

Vclaim permissions aren't similar to pclaim permissions. Any member of a town has trespassing, larceny, and waste permissions on the village land by default, and this can not be removed.

Faithfully,

... now I'm speechless ...

edit: then the only option I see is to not invite any players that haven't been verified / screened and have them live outside of village
