Good evening,

I think some capitalist greed might be good here - with it we might get some capitalist work ethic.

You seem to have misconstrued your own expectations as promises made by us. You also scorned us for, and told a blatant falsehood regarding, our redistribution practices a while back. I will still accept an apology.

It is indeed true, however, that we have made -- and perhaps even discussed openly -- future plans for the game, and that we have tried to remain positive about it. This is still true, and there is no other way of going about running a game, regardless of what time we feel we can give it -- and, yes, it is very much a question of our giving away our time -- at any particular point. Would you honestly prefer that we remain silent and not make any plans? I don't believe that the game's relative non-performance has ever been a secret.

Yes. Back then in June'13 you told us in said posting, that you would like to rework the gluttony system first, as everything else would depend on it. Now we have the new gluttony system and the things are still going south... At least for me it seemed that the gluttony system was only a seconday theatre of war - which itself turned up as a nice playing field (just look at the involved math) - but not the one which is decisive.

The most important question, you have to find a good answer for, is: What is the long-term motivation to play Salem? That is the point beyond the "built a nice base, grinded purity a bit, went raiding/was raided"

That is not enough. Btw. where is the exact fun in building after building your 10th mine, 20th smelter and 200th field? I don't see any.

You did a wipe, everyone lost the stuff they had and those that did comeback and play in the new world bought silver I expect. Thus giving you a funding injection to work on the other game.
My honest opinion of you two is that you are underhanded and crooked as the Chief's arrow. Shame on you for taking advantage of those who trusted you. You are a poor excuse for an indie company.

Everyone was given everything they bought pre-wipe so virtually no one was lacking. No one that wasn't already going to buy silver bought silver. I can't even begin to imagine where you're pulling that from.

You can be a fanboi all ya want and defend em. Truth is what it is. They gave back silver only, nothing more. Not to mention your a mod and the last person I would listen too.

@ Argost and co...
I am so sick of this constant negativity being paraded as 'constructive criticism'. You know whats wrong with this game? people like you. If you check around you will see that comments like this get posted all over the place and people who would have tried the game see them and think sod that. This forum is so bloody negative all the time, its exhausting to read sometimes, rant, *****, whine, people throwing their toys out of the pram just because the devs didnt make it the way YOU in all your wisdom think it should be. Why arent they here? Why the hell would they be? Personally I would have said '***** that' long ago.

How about, once in a while, you actually look at what the ***** Jorb and Loftar have given us, and have tried to give us? I for one, have enjoyed both seatribe games very much, over several years. I have paid for other games that are long ago back in their boxes and on the shelf, while salem and haven keep drawing me back. I do pay for this game, I pay for the fun I get out of it, I pay for the hours of pleasure I get from it. And thats my way of saying thank you to two guys who put up with all this **** and still try to make a game that pleases everybody. And I do realise that everything I say will be written off as some fangirl talking crap, but my opinion is actually just as valid as yours. Thank you Jorb and Loftar.

TL:DR for god sake please just stop whining all the time.

I've always felt like the eventual goal was meant to be the development of strong political factions with the incentive to commit to diplomacy, war, and trade. Unfortunately, on a large scale, diplomacy and war aren't necessary or very rewarding compared to the efforts and risks involved in them. Players, and people in general, are less likely to go out of their way for actions that are not rewarding in any apparent way.

This I agree with, although I would hope that not everyone is just motivated by greed and the need to win. Myself and the person I play with support and trade with other players all the time, the pleasure of helping a noob is also intangible, but very rewarding. Just because we dont write it all over the forums doesnt mean its not happening all over the place, maybe some people need to reassess their definition of "winning" there are other ways to win that dont involve stomping on everyone else and being the last guy standing in a wasteland.

You promised witchcraft and horses a long time ago. And as for your apology? Are you freakin kidding me? You have set around silent for a long time. People have begged you two for info on what you were doing and all they got was silence. If an apology needed given it would truly be you two to all the rest of us for your leading people on and doing nothing.
My angst comes from all the crap you have tossed at us the players. It was funny how after Paradox dropped you how the updates just stopped. I honestly have always believed you guys were sick of actually having to work and having Paradox push you to finish your game. Once they dropped you you guys more or less just stopped. And gave a stupid excuse at how hard you had been working and needed a break. I know personally an Indie developer who works night and day on his dream of a mmo. You guys are just flat out lazy and work when you "feel" like working.
So yeah I will be waiting for YOUR apology for running the players around while you screwed off.
